Great place to celebrate kid party. We had an amazing time and all of the kiddos had a blast. Our group ended up ordering food from the pizzeria downstairs square pie guys and going across the park to eat and play.
This was so fun! Love the SF theme and the varied difficulty of the holes. They have lockers you can put your stuff in but also hooks and shelving you can set stuff down on at every hole.
Subpar makes for a fun outing. I love the local landmarks that they’ve built all over the holes. I personally didn’t find the course challenging, though— I feel like more thought went into the decor than the actual mini golf. Earlier reviews indicate pricing was much lower than it is now, we paid $17 pp, which isn’t absurd given their location, but it’s definitely gone up. Overall, still a fun experience in Ghirardelli Square, even if I don’t know if I’d come back to play a second round. BTW their Alameda location did have some more interesting holes on the course, perhaps it’s because they have more space.
Awesome time playing mini golf at Subpar!!! It’s SF themed, the holes are designed well, it plays fun and they serve beer on tap, finger foods and boba teas. Prices are great, service is WONDERFUL and it’s a must try! Highly recommend checking them out!!!
Their website states walk-ins are accepted, but upon arrival we were told reservations were required due to Christmas week, which was understandable. I scanned their QR code to book and saw every time slot available. I even asked to confirm this, and the associate checked and confirmed it was accurate. In that case, assistance could have been offered instead of turning us away.
When I tried to ask a follow-up question, another associate was watching TikTok at full volume, making it difficult to hear her response.
The place itself is cute and well-designed for a small space, and having 18 holes is a plus. However, it feels more suitable for younger kids—each hole is very cramped, and larger groups will likely interrupt other players.
