How DC Breeze built a consistent pipeline of corporate event organizers
📍Washington, DC
The DC Breeze are a professional ultimate team competing in the Ultimate Frisbee Association’s East Division. Since joining the league in 2013, the team has built a strong presence on the field and in the community.
Off the field, growing corporate group bookings was a priority. The challenge was finding the time to make outbound outreach happen consistently.
The Challenge
Before working with Event Captain, the DC Breeze faced a familiar problem.
They knew local companies were hosting team outings and events. What they lacked was the time to identify the right corporate contacts and reach out to them.
With day to day priorities demanding attention, prospecting often fell to the bottom of the list.
“We were struggling with consistently finding enough time to track down prospects’ info and make the outreach,” says General Manager Sean Banks.
“When you have a million things to do, time is often spent on more important tasks than finding emails for local event organizers and reaching out to them.”
The Solution
Event Captain took over the research and outreach process.
That included identifying corporate event organizers, building clean prospect lists, and reaching out on behalf of the Breeze to introduce group outing opportunities.
This allowed the team to stay focused on operations and game day priorities while still building momentum with local companies.
The Results
The DC Breeze gained a consistent pipeline of corporate event organizers where there had previously been none.
Instead of relying on occasional inbound interest or sporadic outreach, the team now had a steady flow of conversations with local companies interested in group outings and experiences.
Outbound became consistent instead of occasional. The team no longer had to pause critical work to hunt down contacts or send emails. Opportunities that previously never started were now entering their pipeline.
Most importantly, the shift was not just about activity. It was about quality.
Event Captain ensured the outreach was backed by clean, verified data, which meant conversations were happening with the right people from the start. That reduced wasted effort and increased the likelihood that discussions would move forward.
“Event Captain tracking down info, scrubbing lists to ensure quality of data, and reaching out to prospects on our behalf has been an absolute game changer,” says Banks.
With corporate event organizers now entering their pipeline regularly, the Breeze moved from reactive to proactive growth.
“We have real corporate event organizers in our pipeline now, which we definitely struggled with before.”
This created a foundation for future bookings and partnerships that did not exist before.
